How can you make Democrats look like killjoys who also hate the military in one decisive move? President Donald Trump has given the answer: Hold a pro-military parade!
Americans love parades, as a 1931 song declares:
I love a parade;
A handful of vets,
A line of cadets,
Or any brigade,
For I love a parade!
It seems obvious to the point of banality to explain that yes, Americans love parades, and human beings in every country enjoy the disciplined military formations you’ll find in parades.
And yet here we are, in bizarro world, explaining the obvious and watching Democrats walk through an area marked, “WARNING: DO NOT STEP HERE. THIS IS A TRAP.”
Democrats, who ran record budget deficients under President Barack Obama, are declaring that a military parade will be a “waste of money,” as Dick Durbin says on NBC.
- Cernovich strategy tip: When you see yourself as the opposition, you walk into your adversary’s trap.
Democrats lack a coherent vision, and thus view themselves as “the resistance,” a laughable term giving that Wall Street, the media, higher education, and nearly every other institution is pro-Hillary Clinton.
Yet when you frame your actions in contradistinction to your adversary, you end up like a child playing the opposite game. “You want to give amnesty to 1.8 million rather than 600,000 people? No deal! You want to hold a pro-military parade? Waste of money!”
Sometimes you have to let your opponent take the short-term win to achieve longer strategic objectives. Trump’s military parade is brilliant, and Democrats should either join the celebration or say nothing. Opposing a military parade looks anti-fun (everyone loves a parade) and anti-military on one swoop.
UPDATE: Democrats are planning on obstructing the military parade.
